BRENDON SIEMSEN TRIO

Melbourne based musician, Brendon Siemsen brings his engaging and emotive guitar style to life in a trio format.

The trio delivers a mix of original compositions and creative takes on well-loved tunes. They blend jazz, rock, blues, fusion, and pop, with original compositions that transport listeners through a journey of emotion and adventure.

BIO (General)

With over 30 years of experience as a professional musician, music teacher, and guitar instructor, Brendon holds qualifications that include a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Performing Arts in Music, and an Associate Diploma of Music.

He has undergone advanced training at prestigious contemporary music institutions such as Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, and Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. Additionally, Brendon has privately studied under the tutelage of distinguished jazz and fusion maestros, including but not limited to John Abercrombie, Pat Martino, Scott Henderson, Joe Diorio, Jeff Richman, and Ron Eschete.

His 30 years of experience as a professional musician, include countless gigs in many different styles in many ensemble combinations. Including SELL OUT shows at Paris Cat Jazz Club Melbourne, Festival of Voices, Hobart and performances at MONA FOMA 2018-2020, Devonport Jazz Festival ’12, ‘14,’16 ‘17, Clarence Jazz Festival, 14,’15,’19 and Hobart Jazz Festival 2013 to  2023.

 

TEACHING CAREER


Brendon has had the privilege of teaching at various colleges and institutions throughout Victoria and Tasmania. He has extensive experience  as a department head, overseeing music programs, state music examiner, school music curriculum development, moderator, classroom music teacher and guitar/bass tutor. Including the University of Tasmania (Launceston) as a guitar teacher, ensemble supervisor and external examiner for honors students.

Brendon's approach centers on cultivating an engaging and supportive environment for students to nurture their musical skills and unleash their creativity. Proficient in designing comprehensive curricula, delivering impactful lessons, and instilling a robust foundation in music theory and performance techniques, he is an organized professional with a proven track record. Brendon excels in employing effective teaching strategies, showcasing strong communication skills to simplify complex information and address challenges, ultimately improving student outcomes.
